Cute Little Ugly Things
An personal attempt to break away from cute, resulted in a range of 10 unconventional objects for children that are sick of cute. I was trying to make the opposite of conventional stuffed toys with rough and dull fur that resembled rat fur, minimal or no recognisable facial features, sand filling to give it the weight of a living animal. These objects were not made for the purpose of selling but to:
1. Experiment with the nature of such objects physically and imaginatively.
2. To explore the difference in perceptions among children and adults about the notions of cute/not cute/ugly etc.
They were used as tools for a social experiment and presented with an intriguing film. The project process was documented on the blog: http://cutelittleuglythings.blogspot.se/
