Oddball is a multidisciplinary studio that likes to design for play, eating and all things odd and wonderful.
Nalisha Chouraria is the founder of this non-traditional studio, and lives in the Gold Coast, Australia. She is a designer from Bangalore, where she studied Visual Communication Design and Interactive Toy Design from Srishti School of Design. She went on to do her Masters in Designed Objects at SAIC, Chicago and a Masters in Child Culture Design at HDK, Gothenburg. Before Oddball, she was the Art Director & Lead Designer at Strawbees (Sweden).
During her early education, all her designs were termed as ‘cute’. This led her to question this very attribute and break out of it through experimentation with the unconventional. Whether it was the irregular toys she made for children that are sick of cute, or her designs and illustrations for which she won several awards – a recurring theme in her work is the uncanny.
